I am just about to get my affidavit of birth from my parents. Can someone please advise on the following:

What should be the denomination of the stamp paper on which the affidavit should be typed: meaning, should it be Rs 10 or Rs 20 stamp paper. I dont know if this matters, hence the question.

Please let me know ASAP, as I am running out of time.

thanks
Sanjay

Hi GC_Mangta,

I hope you are not kidding. So far, I have heard people taking it on Rs 10 or Rs 20 stamp papers. Never heard of Rs 100 stamp papers. Again, I am totally ignorant on this. So, please advise me correctly. Thanks

Sanjay

I am not sure if every lawyer has a different charges. Mine was done from Bombay and the Stamp paper costed Rs 20/- each and the lawyer put a 5 stamps of Rs 5 each so the total cost per affidavit was RS 45/ -.

If this amount is more then I can say the lawyer cheated my father.

Thanks

The stamp papers that I carried were of Rs.20 denomination, and I feel that
value is quite sufficient.

The notary will affix some other stamp for about Rs.5 on it and that would
be extra.

Rs. 10/- will suffice, Rs. 20/- are hard to find, anyway!

Notarisation is important; it is not as if you have been asked to REGISTER that Affidavit with local authority.

Rs 100

Well I had gone to the court personally - next to St. Xavier's college and they (at least 3 black coated lawyers) and some court personnel said that to be completely legal, a 100 Rs one is the best + the person who will be signing has to be present during notarization : which will additionally cost about Rs 50 (to bargain this amount) and then few postage like stamps and a red notary seal will be affixed on the document. Try to fit the matter within the first page.
GCM.
