Hi All,
I got my H1-B renewed in last week of August, 2001.
I applied for I-485 on August 10, 2001.
I did not get my passport stamped after getting H1-B extension.
Its more than an year and I still havent got my passport stamped with a new visa.
I have a valid EAD but havent used it.
DO I NEED TO GET THE PASSPORT STAMPED?
AM I OUT OF STATUS?
DOES THIS AFFECT MY I-485 PROCESSING BY ANY CHANCE.

I am kinda worried thinking about this, gurus please advice me what to do.

Thanks,
Farooq

You are not out of status

Passport stamping is nothing to do with your status as long as you have valid H1. If your passport was not stamped with 6 months after your old I94 was expired, it was not possible to get it stamped in US, you need to go to India or some other country to get it stamped, but you are not out of status and it is not at all going to effect your I-485 processing.

Don't worry.

Thanks ven123

Thanks a bunch ven123 for the reply.
I was able to get some info about this from www.immigration.com too.
It says that I dont need to have a visa to stay in US...all I need is a valid I-94 which I do have that came in with my H1-Extension.
