I have a conditional green card. The first time I traveled out of US and re-enter, I got a stamp showing I'm a green card holder with A#. Last week I came back from another international trip, but the passport was not stamped by the officer at the port of entry. It's really weird because I thought everybody would get one. Anybody can tell me his/her experience? Only first time out of country got a stamp?

I made a total of 10 trips during my 3 years as a CPR/LPR and only got one stamp, on my 7th trip.

No, I didn't mean that. I didn't have a GC stamp in my passport before I got the physical card because I didn't get approved on the spot during interview.

Even for US citizens, passports are required nowadays to go to Canada or Mexico (there may be some slacks cut , but the new policies will be in full effect soon).

As a foreigner we have passports in the first place, and it's not much of a hassle to bring passports with us when traveling abroad.

If you go to Canada or Mexico with your green card do you need to bring you passport?

i was CPR/LPR and traveled 3 times - all 3 were stamped ONLY when i came back to US, no stamps when leaving. so I saved all boarding passes, hopefully it will help to prove it.

As a Canadian citizen who travels very frequently to Canada, I can tell you for sure that when crossing by land, Canadians do not require a passport for GC holders. Traveling by air is a totally different ball game. I personally think a passport should always be carried, regardless whether traveling by land or air.

yes you do need a passport to travel to canada , please check canadian visa rules ,

TC - As always, you are right, my friend. Thanks for your thoughts about always carrying passports when International borders are concerned..
