This question was raised several times before. Hopefully, you can provide an answer for us now. Thanks

Question: Do you mean your GC arrived three months after the FP? Did INS stamp your passport?

Yes,my passport was stamp and my GC arrive in four months.
It was back dated to jan 01.

Thanks for the information. I got one more question: you got your GC in the mail, and after that the citation for passport stamping?or your passport was first stamped and after that you got the GC in the mail? If the latter happened when was your passport stamped?
As for the citizenship, since your passport was backdated to Jan 01, you are entitled to apply for citizenship, five years after: Jan 06.
The legislation in that regard hasn't changed.
They did the right thing, asylees are backdated only one year before the approval. It's interesting to see that in your case it seems INS considered the approval as January 2002, which is a month before the FP.
I will appreciate knowing when your passport was stamped. Thanks and you are very welcome to visit this board.

what passport

Hello all,
Everyone keeps saying they will stamp your passport. What does this mean? Which passport? Your native country passport? Or the refugee travel document???? Can some one explain please? Thanksssss

This has been discussed several times before. Please check old postings in this same portal and you will find the options when you don't have passport, etc.
Passport stamping is the approval of your application. After that, the GC is mailed to the approved asylee. Check old postings, you will find in there answers to all your questions. Regards

Passport

When I received my approval letter ,went over to INS and my Passport was stamp.
GC arrived four month later.
Wife GC arrived two and half month before my.
Approval letters were one week apart.

Thanks test 1001

So, you got your FP notice in February 2002, and GC arrived in May 2002. Sometime in between, you got an approval letter and passport stamping notification. And, somehow the process was even faster for your wife.
Thanks again and congratulations.
