hi all:
i heard that if u travel to abroad, they will take away your I-94
i may go to canada by air this summer, so i just wonder if they will issue me another I-94 after i come back, and what kind of I-94 is that, any words on it? such as authorized work....
my current I-94 is the one they give me after they approve my case.
thx for helping

kaoticfury,

I think you will receive many different stories from this board in regard to your I-94 questions.

For me, I did not surrender my I-94 when I depart from the US. When I returned from UK last August, I did fill up a new I-94 and the stamping shown "...Asylee Status...Indefinately...Authorized to work...". I don't remember the exact wording.
The Immigration officer did not ask me for the previous/old I-94 either.

I would suggest that you make a copy of your current I-94, the one you received from the Asylum officer. Just in case.
Otherwise, I don't think you have anything to worry about.

kaoticfury,

I agree with cchong. I traveled outside the US about 11 times in the last 6 years. I never submitted any of my I-94 cards. As long as you leave the USA with your RTD, you don't need to submit your I-94 to the Airline. When you come back, every time the INS officer will give you a new I-94 card that is valid for one year. I suggest that you never submit your I-94 card which says "Assylum Approved ...." because this is your only proof of status.

so they will give u another i-94 even though u already have it?

by the way, what kind of IRS document should i show them b4 i am out of the country?
(i am currently a college student, and i have fiancial aid and loan, i think i dont pay tax (i hope my believe is ture), )
thx for helping!

Kaoticfury,

In my travels I have yet to be asked for Income tax documents. There is some wording regarding Income tax liability etc in RTD but it is never enforced.
