Question about travel

I plan to travel to South Korea this Dec. But the Korean officer told me it's difficult to get a visa using my RTD but it's easy to apply visa using my Chinese passport which is still valid. I asked my lawyer and she said it's ok to use my Chinese passport to apply visa and enter South korea and I should have no problem back to US. She even told me I have no problem update my Chinese passport in Chinese Consulates. Can anyone provide some ideas? Thank you very much!!!

don't

I would suggest you not to do such dangerous thing and risk you whole future here. Since you have to have a RTD to reenter, your blank RTD could invite a lot of unwanted attention.

BYT, I went to South Korea last year and had zero problem securing a visa on my RTD.

Dang Dang

Also,How did you get your visa? Did some of your korean friends send you a invtation letter? Thanks!

visa

I obtained mine via mail. It took about five weeks.

I sent the embassy my RTD, air reservation, invitation letter from the ROK and a money order.

Did the officer imply to you that someone with rights of abode in the USA is more likely to overstay in the ROK than one with only a Chinese passport? I really take issue with that.

passport

Just for your information, I know someone in Canada who lost his asylum status becaused he used a Chinese passport to travel. He is nowing paying big bucks in legal fees to get the status back.

I don't want quarrel with you . I never mean I want go back to my home country and I always try to use RTD to do my travels. My company sent me to Europe, Thailand and I have no troble getting visa with my RTD. If I have troble getting visa with my RTD to some countries like ROK I will tell my boss I can't go. Don't complain someone in this froum that they are frauds just becase they were talking about possiblities travel to a 3rd conutry using his or her homeland passport. Please be helpful to this froum. You are very much welcome to provide any useful infomation to help Asylees.

Listen, I spoke to IO once and he explained me couple of things. First of all you CAN use your NP, but you have to have RTD also to return back. You CAN NOT visit your home country with neither NP nor RTD. You CAN NOT renew your NP unless there is an important reason.

I personally travelled twice using my NP with RTD. Never had any problem. USCIS don't care as long as you don't break the rules.
