Question about the Tests

I read this today !

Beginning October 1, 2008, U.S. Citizenshio and Immigration Services (USCIS) will begin implementation of a redesigned naturalization test. All applicants who file for naturalization on or after October 1, 2008 will be required to take the redesigned test. For those applicants who file prior to October 1, 2008 but not interviewed until after October 1, 2008 (but before October 1, 2009) there will be an option of taking the redesigned test or the current one.

My Question now is the following. A week ago I read that my DO does the Pilot Testing so I guess it is not a Pilot Test anymore. Which Test should I study now for according to my timeline in my Signature ?

Also I printed out both tests and on the new test it says this on the bottom ... "Applicants for naturalization taking the redesigned test should note that the USCIS is aware that the 100 items sometimes have answers not listed here. What does that mean ?

Since you applied before October 1st 2008 and your interview will most likely be before October 1st,2008 you study for the current (old) test. Unless your interview is after Oct 1st 2008 and before Oct 1st 2009 you do have the choice of the old or new test.If you interview if after October 2009, then you must take the new test.

This means that your answers do not have to be exactly like the ones they have listed. For example, some of the answers are specific to the current politicians holding specific positions that can change after elections.

According to this Link ... http://www.uscis.gov/files/nativedocuments/Comparison.pdf
the old and the new test are pretty much the same except for the fact that there are more questions added to the new one, right ?

No there are the same amount of questions on both tests. The Pilot test had more, but that was to see what ones to keep and what ones to toss out. Questions like "Who wrote the Star Spangaled Baner" had been taken out, but ones like "Where is the Statue of Liberty" has been added along with "Who was Susan B. Anthony" etc.

The questions are more multi word responses unlike the old test where you would give a single word response or just a name. Now they're kind of more open ended.

Either way the new one only has I think now 100 questions that have been finalized. CNN had a report on this yesterday actually...
