Question about the Basics of CP

I am sorry to ask some thing basis like this. But I just realized that those apathetic and disinterested lawyers that my company provided have applied for CP on my I-140 without ever consulting me. I have no clue how to go about it. Can someone suggest a place where I can learn about it.

Also, would anyone know whether it is possible to change from CP to Adjustment of Status? And how to do this and how long might it take?

you are fine. You can do AOS if you indicated CP on I-140 app. But not the other way round.

Yur lawyer did it to give you flexibilty.

Thanks guys; a follow up question

Do I have to file any papers to convert from CP to AOS? Also, how long is the I-140 valid since approval. For me, for various reasons it has been longer than a year since the I-140 was approved and I have not done anything to follow up. I am not even sure if the attoreny received the PKT 3 also.
