Hi,
My wife is ready to apply for US Citizenship and is now filling out the form N-400.
We have a question regarding the Residence question (Part 4: Information about your residence)
In March of 2011 we moved from the house where be had been living for a few years and began traveling overseas for my work, visiting the US once in August, before coming back the end of 2011. During that time we did NOT have any kind of residence in the US, but we did have a mailing address in NYC.
From Jan 2011 till May 2013 we stayed at a variety of friends houses, housesitting, etc until moving into our current home. During this time we have had a new mailing address in CA.
We need to move from our current home the end of August and hope to file the N-400 before moving, but there is question of what to put for the period from March 2011 till May 2013.
- What to put for March 2011 to December 2011 when we did NOT have any residence in the US?
- What to put for the period from Jan 2012 to May 2013 when we stayed at numerous different places? One idea is to
put the address of our friend where we stayed for the longest stretch and claim that as our address for the entire time
Needless to say, we don't want to jeopardize her citizenship application. How precise do we need to be with this? Do they check this information?
What happens when we move away from our current residence one the application is submitted? Does it matter?
Thank you!
