Question about Optional Practical Traning

Hi,

I'm asking this question for a friend of mine, I know I'm probably posting at the wrong place (so please let me know where I should post it), but since I've been roaming in this board, I thought I'd give it a shot here. I just checked the status online for my friend and her OPT was approved. Does anyone know how long does it take between when its approved and when the cards are mailed? Also, has anyone traveled with OPT abroad before? Did anyone ever have problem re-entering the US under OPT? Thanks so much.

Officially it is less than 14 days. Actually most people get the mail in a week or so. Make sure to check back with BCIS in case there is any delay.

OPT by itself is not sufficient to re-enter US. You need to have a valid F1 visa stamp in your passport. I have travelled with an F1 visa and an approved OPT (but that was like 5 yrs ago).
