I am going to be sending in my application for AOS based on marriage. My mother-in-law is going to be a co sponsor, cause my husband did not make enough in the past years cause he was a student. She is currently living with us, my question is what exactly is required to show proof of residency/relationship? Also does she need a copy of her birht certificate?

In my opinion, (If she has been livig with you for 6 months or more) she should file I-864A as a household member and needs to submit copies of her federal tax returns if she is working or show assets if she is not employed or doesnt file taxes. Proof of residency and relationship are also needed so you might want to submit your wife's birth certificate to prove that she is her mother and any document that shows her proof of address like bills on her name to prove that she lives at the same address
