Question about H1 holder studying for part-time master degree

Hi,

I'm a H1 holder (5th year) with a bachelor degree, I'm now working and studying part-time for a master degree in a discipline completely different from that of my bachelor degree. I wonder will I be able to get another 6 years of H1 after I graduated from the part-time program with the new degree?

I think the answer to the above question is likely to be no... so if I go for full-time study (i.e. change to F1 visa) to finish the program, then can I get a new 6 year H1 after graduation? Will I need to leave US for a year before I can get the new 6 year of H1?

Thank you very much!

Hi, I'm asking the above questions in the assumption that I get another job after graduation from the master degree program. Thanks.

Your education / MS degree or F1 does not help you on this matter.
Unless you leave US and stay outside US for a year and apply for new H1 under quota, you will not get further 6 yrs.
H1 to f1 to H1 (Total h1 is always 6 years unless otherwise LC pending)
