question about green card

Hello, guy.

i just became a permanent resident thru asylum and the question is:

do i need any documentation to go out the country for vacation? i just present my green card when i go out with my born country passport and when i get back , just present my green card to the US Custom.

First of all, congratulations! :)

The US is the only country that I know of where you do not go through passport control when leaving the country but I could be wrong. If you are going to Canada, all you need is a GC. If you are coming back from Canada, all you need is a GC to re-enter the US. If you are going anywhere else, you will need a travel document or a passport to exit the US and will need a travel document + GC to return. (Airlines will check for your passport/travel document when leaving the US to make sure your have proper visas/etc to go to your destination).
