Question about Drv License

My wife didn't change her Drv Lic from her home state to where we are now. We always knew we were going to move back in a few months, so she thought she'd keep it unchanged to avoid the DMV hassle. Now that our AOS interview is coming up, would it be a problem when we show our DLs and her's is from a different state, even though we have been living together since our wedding and have papers to show for it?

Your supposed to change your License to your new state within 2 weeks of moving there I believe. How long have you been away?

My wife has lived here for 3 years and still has a licence from another state. I was wondering the same thing as you whether she should go get a new one for the interview. Going to the DMV is basically a full day wasted and that's why she's never bothered.

However I have a theory : the NY City theory. Many people in NY don't drive and have no licence. So a licence cannot be a required form of ID for the USCIS as not everyone has it and the rules are national, not local; even outside of NY I'm sure there must be people who don't drive so I can't see them demanding to see a licence from someone.

I hope someone else chimes in with experiences.

That really depends on the state (where I am its 2 months), but yes, at this point she is probably breaking the law by driving on an out of state license.

What state are you in? Your wife should probably just bite the bullet and get a new license. The reason I ask what state is if its California, then don't bother as it takes too long to get the new license in the mail there!

Either way however, I doubt it is a big worry for AOS.
