Hi Folks,

My H1-B is expiring in this October. I have been in US for 5 years. Now My Status would be approved in some days form now as my company has applied for my H1 renewal status.

Now my first question is ,
1) How and where do i get my Consulate appointment for DELHI?

2) I think some people in my firends circle told me that there is lot of lag in Appointments for consulate. Is that true?

3) If somebody could tell me the list of documents that i should be taking along with me for my Visa Stamping (revalidation) in India -- Delhi.

Folks your answer would be of great help for me.

I am working for a dumb ass company.so like wise i also need to make my travel arrangements as these suckers have always screwed my vacation plan(in the past 5 years).

Also since i want to be sure about my appointment ,please guide me the right path so that i can go and enter U.S.A with my new Visa.

Please answer..

May god bless you

Thanks

That's true.If you are on a project right now,you can stress the importance of you being at the job.

I attended for an H1b visa interview at chennai. They did ask me for w-2 and also a copy of my 1040.I filed my returns using hrblock.com so it was easy for me to take a print out as hrblock saves all your previous tax returns too.http://newdelhi.usembassy.gov/visatempwork.html

If you go to delhi to stamping then you have to go through visa-services.com. On this site, you can check date availability. If you are already working in the US, then they give you appt. in the same month you wish to come to delhi. If you check website in Oct, then it shows Oct availability for you - H1 in US, but it will not show you avail for Nov. For nov. you will have to check the website in nov.

trust it is clear.

time to get visa stamped

I have conflicting views about how long it takes for them to give the passport back. The current service tts visas says on their site, it could be anywhere from 2-10 days. Though the new VFS service site says there is a rush service available where you can pick it up at the counter.
I am trying to get some clear picture of the time it is going to take to get my passport back after stamping, as I can't take more than 7-8 days vacation. Any thoughts on how long it takes, and what is this new rush service?

Thanks

Well, I have also looked into this new service from VFS. I am planning on going to delhi and getting my H-1 stamped in Jan. The appointment availability system doesnot show any open dates for Nov and dec but plenty of dates available in Jan and Feb.
I am also interested in the rush service option whereby you can collect your stamped PP from one of the VFS offices. Again not much detail is given.
I have sent an email to them at info@vfs-usa.co.in. Hope to hear back from them. You guys can also shoot them some emails. Also, can have someone in Delhi call them at 51653355. Lets update this thread when someone gets more info.

Reply from VFS

Dear All,
I contacted the VFS office via email, and this is the reply I got.

Dear XXXX,

Anyone can pay the visa fee in the designated HDFC bank on behalf of you,but they have to carry the photocopy of passport first page. Then you can go in online and book an appointment.

Thanking you

Regards,

VFS India private limited

So, you can do this process while sitting here in the US. Have someone go and deposit the money on your behalf.

I am planning to go to India in Nov and want to get my H1 stamp on my passport. I checked VSF site for dates and have similar experience. Does this mean that there is no opening in Nov or Dec? Please advise so that I can book my tickets. I have also sent an email to them.

Thanks in Advance!

here's my update: scanned and emailed my PP page to my Dad. He was able to deposit the money in a HDFC branch and got a receipt number/barcode number. There are 2 copies of that- one for the applicant and the other one to turn in to the US consulate during the interview. Also, there is a rush service to get your PP back from VFS. That money (INR 56) is paid when you are done with your interview. I dont have any more details on that. Hope this helps.

When I checked visa appointments available at Delhi 2 days ago (on the new system, vfs), it showed dates available in october, now when I looked today, the earliest available date is in January!! I dont understand how, in 3 days, it changed so much - can anyone think of an explanation?? I really need an appointment in december..

Wanted to book appt in delhi

I wanted to book h1/h4 visa appointments in delhi through the new system.

Finding that only jan dates are available. But looking to have date in end Dec.

Planning to book now in jan and then modify it later to dec.

this is written at vfs website-
"You can reschedule your interview appointment only once. If you have wish to reschedule a second time, you will need to first cancel the existing appointment and then schedule a new appointment.
wanted "

Any suggestions...........

I scheduled an appointment for the Delhi consulate for early Jan. yesterday. It turned out to be a little tedious process as you have to fill out the DS-156 and DS-157 (for males) online in order to complete the process. Also, once you choose your interview date, the system will automatically give you a time slot for that day. At the end of the process, you can take printouts of the completed forms (make sure you have Adobe Acrobat version 7.0) and/or forward the documents to your email address.
As for the rush service, you can select to pick up your passport from an authorized Blue Dart location. There is a list from which you can make a selection depending on your location.
