There is a one year difference in our case.

Its the date on the card (Resident Since). More specifically, its the date that the application for adjustment of status is approved. And USCIS supposed to put the approved date on the card, although you will find instances of USCIS mess up and approval date and date on card doesnt match. In anyevent, the actual approval date thats with USCIS records is the date you want to remember/keep track of.
