question about a GC Holder wanting to get Married

Good Afternoon folks,
I am a green card holder (family based) have had it for a bit over a year, and i want to get married to someone not from the states. I have been told that i need to wait to get my citizenship before i could do that (3.5+ years), is that true ? is there something i could do ?

I would prefer that my wife works when she gets here too.

Please help, what can i do ?

You can marry whenever you want. However, your marriage gives your spouse no immigration benefits for approximately 5 years, by which time you will likely be a citizen.

I would prefer that my wife works when she gets here too. Please help, what can i do ?

Does she qualify for an H or L visa? If not, then no.
