Query - Is H1 visa valid?

Hi,

Currently I am woking for a indian company(say x). Last year in April 2006, I applied for H1 Visa thru a US consulting company. I got the H1B visa and then I got it stamped as well in my passport( valid from October 2006 to September 2009). After that my current company x,in November 06, offers me to send me to USA on L1 visa. I opted for this. After that when I went to US embassy in India, for L1 visa stamping, they cancelled my H1 Visa ( which was stamped previously) and given me L1 VISA ( valid till Jan 2008).
Then I came to USA in January 2007 on L1 Visa from my current Inidan comapny x.
Now I would like to know that "Is my H1 visa is valid or it is cancelled for ever"?
Is it possible for me to switch from L1 to H1(for a new job)?
if yes, do I need to go back to India and restamp my H1 visa?

---------------- you got H1 visa based on H1 petition of US employer and later got L1 visa based on Indian company and entred US on L1. you need to ask US employer if they have cancelled H1 petition by writing to USCIS, if they wrote then H1 petition is revoked, if not revoked and employer still has job offer for you and is ready to give you job offer letter then go out and get H1 visa stamp and enter US on H1 status to work with US employer

Well I am working fro Indian company and they sent me to US on intra company transfer on L1..
Since my H1 visa was stamped once and then cancelled during L1 stamping..will this create any problem while I go for restamping of same....

My further query " In my case is it possible to switch from L1 to H1 , after applying for COS in US itself but without going back to india?"

Also is it possible to check online whether my H1 petition is valid or not or it has been revoked my H1 sponser?

----------YES, you have the H1 approval notice and punch that on USCIS online status(FYI online status is not always correct) best option is to contact US employer if the wrote to USCIS and revoked H1. even if they dont have revoked then you need that US employer letter when you go for Visa stamping. if that employer has no job for you then US consulate will deny the H1 stamp. talk to US employer. posting here is not going to help
