Ladies and gentlemen,

Please let me know whether using AP invalidates H1.I am currently on H1 and is expiring mid feb.I am planing to Visit India and get married before I get approval and planing to return on AP.will I be able to use my H1 after getting approval once i return on AP and get my spouse on H4 ?.
Guys please reply asap, I am really worried ......

No the trick might not work. Since the H4 that will be given will also expire in Feb. So your wife cannot come into US after Feb.
If you use your AP (coming in) you can go back to H1 if you are still with your GC sponsoring employer.

So u mean H1 is still valid even i use my AP.SO I can get my spouse on H4 once my H1 extension is approved.I am with the same employer who is sponsoring my GC.
PS: I got a conflicting reply on some other board, saying my H1 is invalid once I use AP.

Yes. If you are with the sponsoring employer you can go back to H1 after extending. I do not know the procedures involved. But lawyer murthy has reiterated this again and again in her chats. Get a phone in Q&A appointment and know the procedure before taking my word for it.
 
H1 will be invalid once AP is used with EAD

This is my understanding, get a professional opinion to be sure.
