Hi, guys.

1) My oath ceremony is Friday (Dec. 4th), and I was wondering if I can LEGALLY fill in the application for a US passport, PRIOR to the oath ceremony.

2) What happens after submission of required info. on the website - is a PDF then available to me to print off of, and submit (offline) at a passport acceptance center?

Thanks, guys.

Of course not... You are not US citizen until you take an oath so you can not apply for US passport. On what grounds, do you apply for US passport ? Please read US passport application.

Ofcourse you can fill it. That's legal. you are not submitting to acceptance agency. After oath only, you are going to file. I already filled online and saved it as pdf. my oath is on dec 3 . i will file after my oath , will update you.

So, are you saying that there is an option (later) to save as a pdf file?

Thanks for replying.

Easy, my friend! My q was specific to DS-11, and submission of info. therein. It is understood that a passport cannot be applied for until a Naturalization certificate is in hand.

That's true, Passport can't be applied until a Naturalization certificate is in hand.Just preparing beforehand online and saving it as pdf.

In LA District office, after the interview they gave me a sheet about passport application . The exact wordings

" if applying online click on the " website address" link and follow the instructions and print out your passport application.

DO NOT SIGN the application until you are instructed to do so after your ceremony. "

sorry, Semi-conc'nt 04. I misunderstood your question. Of course, you can draft it (fill it) , if it helps you to expidite the process upon securing Naturalization Certificate.

Thanks for replying, no offense taken.

I wanted to know if the process would generate a pdf file file which I would save - to later print and sign/submit at an acceptance facility.

What to fill for "Permanent address"?

Hi, guys.

I live in an Apt., and don't know if I will move out of state, or even outside the US - in the future (say, in 6 months when my current lease terminates). Do I have the option of leaving the field blank, or would I be forced to fill in my current/mailing address?

Thanks.

The passport takes 2-3 weeks to arrive. Surely you won't move before that?

Thanks for replying.

My enquiry is specific to the q on the form DS-11 - pertaining to "Permanent address". I am an immigrant, and have not purchased any property, YET. I am therefore (relatively, more) mobile - I might keep moving to (relatively) 'temporary' addresses. My query is in this context.

I am digging this old thread as I am having the same question. If you have no property in the US you own, you live in a temporary housing (i.e. you have lease, you rent) and plan on going out of the country soon after naturalization , what do you fill out on DS-11 in the permanent address field?

Further, Do you need to keep the Department of State up-to-date about your permanent address?
