I am trying to process OCI for my parents who are in their Eighties. They became US Citizens in early Eighties. For OCI application I need certain documents. Below is the e-mail received from the Consul General. My parents have not worked in US and filed ant Tax returns - Has anyone faced this situation and what options are available?
"EAD stands for Employment Authorization Document. All the documents in this
category serve one purpose: to establish lawful entry into the US. If you
have any other documentation such as a visa approval note or a letter from
the US immigration indicating how the person first entered the US, that
document would also suffice. In case the applicants entered the US in 1980
or before and if that fact can be established through some document such as
a social security certificate, tax return, or any other document originating
in the US which gives the date prior to 1980, it would work. For those who
came after 1980 on H1-B or student visa and can produce a letter from the
sponsoring company or school confirming the fact, the letter can also be
used in the absence of those documents mentioned in the box.
