Prove of Legalities

I've read in the other forum that if you are a GC holder, you need to have it with you at all times. What happen if you haven't gotten your GC, and you are an asylee? I know one of them is the EAD but EAD is not really neccesary anymore since I don't see why I have to pay 170 bucks to apply for it every year. What other Idenfication shld I carry with me at all times to prove that I am legal here..Especially when travelling near the border state or airport where the chances of you being stopped by border patrol are high?

i would say I94 stamped but that's just a guess. As far as GC then it is a law to carry it with you all the time. I think the welcome letter states it clearly.
