Hi,
All the initiatives that we think of protesting seem to go nowwhere and we never
get any media attention.
Maybe we need to think of something that almost anyone can do without any worries.
Something that may have no repercussions but get us some media attention.
People are worried about demonstrating outside the offices of USCIS. And this will
only cause nuisance.
Maybe we need to think differently to grab some attention. We need to do something
that we all can participate in.
How about going on a fast for two days? Like just living on water for two days?
What are we protesting? This unfair new memo which allows applicants filing
their I140 and 485 applications concurrently to gain green card in 3 months
while not doing anything about pending 485 applications.
How will we draw attention to our cause?
We will spread the word and we will all go on a two day fast. I will most likely inform
my manager and co-workers why I am doing this. I will work for the first day of the
fast but work the next day from home because I am sure I won't have any energy
to drive to work the next day. I am sure people will ask me why I am doing this and
I can then explain it to them how I am suffering. The problem is that today nobody
knows how we are suffering. They need to know that we have no rights, no way
to present our views and we are just very helpless and at the mercy of USCIS which
is not doing its job.
What do you have to lose. Just few pounds maybe. And that may be healthy for you.
People who have a medical problem please do not participate. But we need to convey
this idea to all the other members and urge them to look at this idea in detail.
You must however inform your HR , your manager and your co-workers because that
is the whole point. Drawing attention to our issues. Maybe you will need to take a leave
of absence. If you are taking a day off don't forget to mention this as a issue in your
reasons to take a day off.
We also need to decide on two days when we can all do this. This will be sometime
next month but will have to be Wednesday and Thursday.
Are you guys interested in joining me in doing something like this? If so then we can
flesh out the details.
How much impact will this have on USCIS and processing. None. But so far nothing
has worked so we just keep trying.
What do you think? People interested please just say yes on this forum and also pass
this thread to other people in other forums or people who are not reading these forums.
