Pros/Cons of Getting new Social Security Card

I do not understand

In my case, I got SSC while on H-1B visa with no such wordings on it.
Meaning there are no restrictions mentioned on the card. Also, every
year I get a SSA letter stating my previous year\'s earnings and the
amount of benefits I might get.
Is that normal?
After I got my GC approval, I went to SSA office for my wife\'s SSC.
The form had nothing more to offer for me. So I did not do anything
now.
Is something wrong?

1. Yes, there are many folks like you who get an SSC with no "wordings" on the card. While restrictions may not be mentioned on the card, be assured that there will be restrictions if your visa type warrants any.
2. If you have been contributing Social Security taxes, it is perfectly normal to receive the letter from SSA indicating your contributions.

3. If you meant that you did not get your SSN amended, then yes, you should revisit the SSA office and get your status updated. As mentioned in previous posts, you will retain your current number.
