Proof of experience for a TN Management Consultant

Hello,

I'm taking a contract to consult on operations/systems/marketing for a company in NYC. My duties are basically to the letter a Management Consultant, so I'm not worried about being scrutinized on that end.

I do not have a degree in this field, or any degree at all actually, (still working on that one) But I know that is not necessary for a Management Consultant.

I know that 5 years of experience in a field of specialty is one of the requirements, which I have. But I was curious as to how to prove it... I have a well-documented resume showcasing 8 years of experience, and several letters of reference as to my professional abilities, but do I need letters from employers dating back 5 years? I'm not even sure if my employers would recommend me from that long ago.

I have collected 4 letters of recommendation from both ex-co-workers, colleagues, and past employers. None of whom I worked with prior to 2007 though. Is that going to be a problem? Do I really need to contact my old manager who doesnt even work for the same company?

My field of specialty is actually live music production and promotion, so I have a letter of reference from:

the CEO of a local record label
Technical Director/co-founder of a gallery/venue I worked with a lot
an ex co worker who also hired me to give a workshop
an acclaimed Musician/artist (a Poet Laureate of the city of Edmonton, +awards)

to summarize my package looks like:

Letter of Offer of Employment (NYC, 3-6 months, salary)
Venue Management Consulting Contract (duties involving establishing the venue operations, etc)
Resume
4 Letters of recommendation (see above)

Is this enough?

EDIT: Also, it was recommended to wear a suit to the border by someone I know. I am female, and have never worn a suit. Is this actually a worthy expense? It seems a bit like overkill to me...

Thank you for your time!

I answered this on canuckabroad: the letters need to cover time periods that equate to 5 years, not merely job performance.

You can wear a tank top, cut-offs and flip-flops if you wish; this is not a job interview.
