Processing time for green card based on asylum

I see, it’s weird that you filed for a WOM just six months after applying a green card, that’s way too early. If you don’t trust your current lawyer, my advice is talk to another trustworthy lawyer who knows about how to handle the situation. Don’t pay your current lawyer anymore unless you know they can actually help you…

Well, I submitted another application a year later. He's the one who advised me to do that. I wish I could turn back time. Now, what's the status of my case? Is he making fun of me or what? If I hire another lawyer, he'll ask for the same amount. When I ask him, he simply says there's no answer.

My asylum approval was in September 2023. A year later, I applied for a green card in September 2024. Six months later, I filed my first Mandems application, which was rejected. I was told to wait until the year was up, and during this time, I filed a Service Request. It was rejected again. A year later, I filed my second Mandems application in September 2025. As I mentioned before, the Mandems application was rejected in January 2026. When I asked for a refund and for the case to be withdrawn, he got angry and said it was his fee. He took 500 from me to file an appeal, and I haven't received a response yet. I've paid him 5500 in Mandems applications so far.
I wish I could get some of the money back; they asked me for another 500.

That's why I'm seeking advice here.

I think USCIS is going to intentionally delay your case from here on out! Seriously, who files a WOM after just 6 months? People have been waiting for years and only start suing them after 12-14 months of waiting forever! And you went Sueing after 6 months? Plus, service requests probably won't help because speeding up a green card is one of the toughest parts of the immigration process, unless it benefits the US government! If you need to travel, you can ask to speed up your RTD! If you need to show your EAD to your employer, you can expedite that! There's really no way to qualify for speeding up a green card unless it's for the government's benefit or you can sure them after been waiting for 12-14 months, not just 6! That's just crazy!

I hope not, I was just listening to his advice. After filing 6 months, we withdrew the case 10 days later, so it's not considered rejected. He said a year is better. Many people get it after six months. He says the court district where I filed is under bad judgment; that's my bad luck.
I applied after 12 month, and now I've completed 18 month.
