Everyone,
What is the process to request expedite AP. I know a couple of people have sent faxes to VSC. Is there a form or format that I need to use.
Somebody who was successful, plz post their expereince. Thnx.
Mine is pending at VSC since Nov 3. Now I moved to California Bay Area, making it difficult to visit Newark, NJ.

Is there a way to get AP from local office in California?

I recently moved to Bay Area, CA. Is there a way to get AP from any local office. I am willing to travel a reasonable distance to get it.

I would have thought..

That if your case is at VSC then they need to issue the AP. I had the same situation except in reverse.

CSC case - now living in NJ. My lawyer intervened because of a need for an emergency AP, and called the CSC. We wrote a letter, sent it to a division specified by the lawyer.

An officer from that division called 1 week later and said he was approving the case based upon the evidence we presented, and we had the docs in hand 4 days later.

Our situation was that we had a family wedding at home, where my husband was best man, and the AP had not come within the prescribed time. We had bought tickets etc... I believe however that he would not have granted it , but the groom - my husbands brother - not received his AP either! The officer in question granted his AP first, then ours. We were well aware that to the strictest letter of the law he probably should not have given either party the AP - but were so grateful the officer in question had real compassion!

Hope your situation comes out well - good luck!!!!

Go for eAP if travel is urgent, else nothing much you can do to expedite the process.

Good luck!

Thnx for the info. I am also in a somewhat similar situation. Need to attend to my brother's wedding. He is going to be on a H1, hence for now has no problems. I need to get mine.
What are all the documents that u attached? Which division did u send to? Don't know if there is a comparable division at VSC.

Normally you should go to the immigration office that has jurisdiction over your local address.

Search the archives for strategies and tips. Also, some offices might not issue eAP's, I know the SJC office used to issues eAP's but no one has posted something about that for some time now, so you will have to call and find out.

Good luck!

Docs...

Sent letter, pleading our case, explaining the situation.
Copy of wedding invite.
Copies of flight tickets, hotel bookings, car hire reservations.

We really pretty much threw ourselves on their mercy, emphasising the financial loss and the family aspect, explaining that many relatives back in our home country were elderly etc....

Letter was sent to Div XII.

I would think that VSC would have a comparable division.

All the very best of luck to you let us know how you get on.

please note that eAP is for real emergencies like death in family (or imminent death) and you should have evidence to support your claim.

It might be easy to "produce" the evidence but you have to know that there were many people that tried getting eAP in San Jose, some got it indeed, but I have to warn you that it's not easy.

I've been thinking about the same thing myself, but since most of the people in this forum had to go to Laguna Niguel, I just figured out it'd be cheaper to reschedule my flight. Cost me a bit more than LA trip, but I saved my vacation day and all the hassle.

Lufthansa charged me $120 for each ticket.

I kept sending faxes to division 12 as well as e-mails in the meantime. There's a rule about fax inquiries, take a look at the CSC service guidelines.

My 485 is pending at VSC, which complicates the situation.
What is the relevance of Laguna Niguel. It seems to ring a bell. Is that the place where CSC is located?
Some local offices issue AP even for people from other centers. I was wondering if there is a place nearby that I can try.
