Procedure for getting Interim EAD (iEAD)?

Could anyone please let me know the procedure for getting IEAD.
My RD is 10/16 and ND is 11/17.
1.When can I apply for iEAD. 1/17/02 or 2/18/02?
2.I live in Fremont, so do I go to SFO INS?
3. What are the documents required?
4. Is there any filing fee for iEAD?
Any comments or help is greatly appreciated.

1/17/02....but I would give an extra day or two to avoid any confusion in calculating 90 days from RD.........

2.I live in Fremont, so do I go to SFO INS?

It does not matter...but definitely SFO is much better than SJC

3. What are the documents required?

Carry all documents you filed it along with I765,I485 & I765 receipt notices and a new filled out I765 form.

4. Is there any filing fee for iEAD?

Nope as you\'ve already paid....

Thanks a bunch for all the answers.One quick question.
Is it ok to carry photo-copies of 485/765 reciepts as originals are with lawyer?

I think it\'s ok

\'cause when I wanted to get iEAD, I received a packet of documents from my lawyer to be carried with me.....It had only the copies and no where it was mentioned to carry the original.......But eventually I did not have to get iEAD as I\'d received the original EAD card in a couple of days.....

But it\'s better to make sure sure with someone who had already got their iEAD or with you lawyer before you go. I heard it almost takes up a whole day(considering your commute time and being there from early morning) to get it and you don\'t want to do it twice......

On the side note, if you\'re trying to get iEAD I\'m assuming you don\'t hv your H1 any more. In that case, if you have to travel out of the US you need to have your original I485 receipt notice anyway. So why don\'t you try getting it from your lawyer?
 
Even to get iEAD, do we have to go early 2am and be in the line?

Or can we go any time during INS hours with the relevant paper work?
 
Go early.

For iEAD, you have to go there as early as possible. I went there at 3:30am last year.

yes, I\'m afraid so

\'cause you\'ve to get a token before they stop giving it for the day. Sometimes you get lucky to get a token even if you go late.....But as long as you live close to the INS office, I wouldn\'t suggest that...

You don\'t have to go that early if it\'s the SFO office.. I heard it\'s enought if you go around 6:30AM.....
