Problems travelling on AP

Hi

I have been on EAD/AP for 4-5 years now. I have traveled multiple times to India on AP without any problems. Recently I heard stories about people having problems entering the country on AP. They have been denied access and in some case have been give access for 3 months to wrap up up their affairs like sell homes etc. All these stories are the "a friend of mine told a friend of mine" variety. So none are confirmed.

Has anyone heard of any problems? I am thinking of visiting Vancouver BC. Any other issues I should be aware of while visiting Vancouver. I will be crossing the border in Washington state.

Thanks!

I have heard on similar lines, and have same nightmare.

I am on EB2/Jan2006 Labor filing (India). Am on EAD/AP for 2 years. Am on job. I plan 3 to 4 months' visit in December.
(Long hence may have to leave my job).

Wondering how immigration welcomes me at the airport with AP but in between jobs.

?

I figured as much. Generally AP should not be an issue, unless you are statutorily inadmissible due to criminal or overstay reasons.

AP is essentially a letter from a Service Center Director asking the POE to admit you. A random POE inspector can't overturn that unless they have a really good reason.

My wife is in India and she'll be traveling back to US in couple of weeks using AP.
While she was away, I lost my job. However, she still has a job (EAD).

Meanwhile I heard stories (not firsthand experiences) about people being turned away because they lost their jobs while out of US.

My concern is whether me not being on a job affects her ability to enter US ?

Thanks for the response, TheRealCanadian.

There never seem to be any first-hand experiences. Wonder why?
I guess in this case person is out of country.

Of course it doesn't affect it.
That's good to know.

I came to know from another forum that it should be ok as long as
- I'm eligible for AC21 portability (which I am) and
- I-140 is not revoked (I'll have to check with my former employer on this).

Any comments on this ?
