Problem with my fingerprints?

Hi all. I went to to the Aurora, Colorado (Denver area) INS support center to get my fingerprinting done this morning. The technician said there was a problem with my right index finger print, and asked if I had ever burned it or otherwise damaged it. The technician supervisor looked at them and said there was nothing they could do about it. They never really explained it to me, but apparently there is some kind of feature or pattern they look for in the fingerprint to deem it "acceptable", and my right index finger just doesn't have it. He said there is a good chance I will get a notice within 3 weeks that the FBI wants them done over again, but he said it is a subjective decision on the part of the FBI officer who receives them. He says there is really nothing they can do to fix it, that my fingers are what they are, but I may have to go through the motions of getting them redone. It won't hold up my approval, because my I-485 RD at NSC is Dec. 2002, so it's still early for me. I would just hate the inconvenience of having to go back for no reason.

Anyone else have a similar experience? Did you get a notice to go back for a second fingerprinting or not? Thanks,

Peter

What I've read on this forum.

Hi, from what I've read there is a maximum limit on the number of redo fingerprints that can be ordered. I think 2 or 3 times is the limit. After that they just do the best they can with what they have. You should get a redo notice in the next 3 weeks or so.

FP interview/form..what to expect

When you go for your fingerprint appointment, the forms that
you fill in..do they ask if you have been arrested or convicted etc.

Thanks in advance for any related info.

I don't believe they asked me anything about criminal convictions during the fingerprinting. There is only one brief questionnaire to fill out, if I remember correctly. These questions definately will get asked at some stage of the process, however.

Thanks for the reply Peter.

I was arrested for assault on a family member, the charges were dropped, no conviction, the case was dismissed, did not plead guilty or no contest. Have a court order that expunges the
arrest record as well. This happened after I filed my I-485.

Should I just wait for my FBI clearance & if there is an RFE then
give them the case dismissal details during AOS interview.
