Problem with I-94 number
I have a problem with my I-94 number.Actually I came to US in november of 2001
and I got I-94(I-94 No:-X) which is valid upto july 15th of 2002.After that my
H4 and My husbands H1 was extended and we received the approval notices along with the new
I-94. By that time I got I-94 with the differnt number(I-94 No:-X).We both didn't go out of country.
We asked our lawyer he said its not a problem. But I doubt it will be a problem. If any one knows
about this please give the information.

----- It means you got H1b extended and H4 extended and got approval notice of H1B extension and H4 extension. You got two approvals notices one for H1b extension other for H4 extension and both the approval notices had the extended I-94 attached lower right side s of the approval notices
By that time I got I-94 with the different number (I-94 No: X).We both didn't go out of country.
-------- Read your post you mentioned in second line that when you entered US you got I-94 No:- X and when you received the h1 or H4 extension approval you got the I-94 NO:- X . Generally I-94 has same numbers after EAC or LIN or WAC in your earlier I-94 it had 11 numbers and your new I-94 has 11 numbers and it should have same number on H1 or H4 extension. I suspect you are attaching your spouse H1 approval I-94 in your H4 extension. Check if the respective I-94 mach with H1 approval I-94 with the I-94 that H1 holder got when entered latest before filing H1 extension and match your I-94 of H4 holder with H4 approval extension. They should match because it was extension and H1 or H4 extension will have the same I-94 number that was attached with H1 or H4 extension papers (you attached the copy of your I-94 with H1 extension papers and you also attached copy of I-94 with H4 extension papers)
Please check and let us know:
1 what is the H1 holder expired I-94 # and

What I-94# copy he submitted with H1 extension filing

What is the I-94# attached with his H1b extension lower right side of the approval notice

2 what is the H4 holder expired I-94 # and

What I-94# copy he submitted with H4 extension filing

What is the I-94# attached with H4 extension lower right side of the approval notice



We asked our lawyer he said its not a problem. But I doubt it will be a problem. If any one knows
about this please give the information.

The copy of I-94 # he submitted with H1 extension filing is xxxxxxxxx xx
The I-94 # received with the approval notice is xxxxxxxxx xx
Rerarding H1 extension every thing is fine coming to H4 the I-94 #is different
2 H4 holder expired I-94 # is (xxxxxxxxx xx)
The copy of I-94 # submitted with H4 extension filing is (xxxxxxxxx xx), but while filing
H4 extension, Lawyer made mistake in the application (i.e in form I-539),He fillied the coloum
I-94# with (xxxxxxxxxxxx)
The I-94 # received with the h4 approval notice is (xxxxxxxxx xx)
We noticed this differnece when we are about to send for visa stamping (to St.louis).Then we
asked lawyer about this, He said it wont be a problem as we received the approval notice with I-94.
My question is will it be a problem while entering USA again.We are planning to go to Inida in May or june
of 2004. while coming back will it be a problem. Is there any way we can get the Correct I-94

The I-94 # received with the h4 approval notice is (X)
-------------- It means they issued the same I-94 # that your lawyer wrote in form I-539

-------- I don’t think you will have problems, keep the copies of all your current I-94 AND past I-94 (front and back) with you for your future records. Follow the advice of lawyer.
