Problem regarding the Biometrics appointment?

Hello everyone,

I filed I-485,I-130 and I-765 concurrently a week back and considering the current timelines of many of the users of this forum, I feel my biometrics appointment will be around mid to late October. However, I have to go to Europe for a conference and a workshop for a week that falls around the same time. So, I am worried that I won't be able to make it to the biometrics appointment. I have following questions regarding this:

1) Is it possible to reschedule biometrics appointment? If yes, what is the procedure, do I just need to take my appointment letter to ASC or USCIS has to be involved somehow?

2) If they re-schedule it, any idea how long does one typically have to wait for the next appointment? I mean do they typically re-schedule in 1-2 weeks or does it take 1-2 months? I know it may vary but what is the typical time?

3) I know it will delay my AOS interview and I am fine with that; however, how long can it delay production and mailing of my EAD card?

P.S. I know one other option is walk-in, but I have also heard that some ASC centres aren't that nice and do not entertain walk-ins. Thats why I am wondering about re-scheduling.

Any help will be appreciated! Thank you in advance

For q1, the letter that you receive will have instructions on how to reschedule.

For q2 and q3 there is not an exact science to find out how long it will delay the rest of your paperwork. Everyone has a different timeline. We received our interview letter and didnt even receive our EAD. You might try the early walk in and all they can say is NO if your ASC is nearby so give it a try if you receive the biometrics notice before you leave.

Good luck on your process.

Thanks rock8man.

I know it varies from people to people.. thats why I was wondering if I could get some sort of average number. I don't want to try an early walk in as I have some reasons that want me not to get GC early. I just want my interview to be after first week of December.

I have just one more question. Does re-scheduling biometrics go against you? Because I read that re-scheduling GC interview often gets you denial for I-485. Thus, I am worried that re-scheduling biometrics also works that way or is it lot safer?

Thanks.

As mentioned in the above post, you can look up the notice that you receive from the USCIS regarding the re-scheduling process. You need to send in your reasons for requesting a date change. Requesting a reschedule will not act against you in any way. You can even walk in and complete your biometrics. Dont worry about it, it is all safe!!
