I am preparing to adjust my status through marriage. I have some problems on i864. my wife filed tax returns only this year. I guess we have to put amount of last 3 year. So what I am supposed to do and we are just 1000 above the poverty line for 2 household size. And do we need employment letter from military or can we just print out the les(monthly salary forwarded from military to her account) to show the current employment. Thank u in advance.

Re-read the instructions, it only calls for one year tax return and allows option to submit more if needed.
thank u much..probably my question was not clear a bit..actually No 25 on the form-(I have filed a Federal tax return for each of the three most recent tax years. I have attached the required photocopy or transcript of my Federal tax return for only the most recent tax year). i guess she has to marked this one and write amount for recent three years. but she just filed this year as she was naturalized in 2010 and started a job.. she never filed tax before and had no income in the year 09 or 08 because she was in f1 and got citizenship without GC. so in this case what i need to do.. do i need to look for another sponsor or only recent tax file will be enough for me as she is in the military,,thank u

You dont need another sponsor if she made enough money last year and she will make enough money to support you this year or when you get your GC. USCIS is not really concerned that much about the past, they are more concerned about the future. I think you just select that option you mentioned, and write the salary for the last year and leave the other two blank. Then she will attach a sheet of paper and explain the whole situation that she did not work and did not file taxes those other two times. As long as she makes enough to support you from now on, that is good.
