Priority Date??

Today I got my NIW 140 approval notice letter from VSC. My RD is 3/29/04 and AD is 4/4/05. I notice that the priority date is 3/25/04. What is the priority date? What does this date tell? It seems that only LC-based GC case has such date. Any answer and comments are appreciated.

Priority date is the date that they received your 140 application.
So actually they receive your 140 on 25, and issue you a notice
of receipt on 29. I don't think it means anything.

Hi, mqj73:

Do you know how long does it take for USCIS
to clear your 'FP' and 'Name Check', this seems
to be an unexpected factor now. Some people
say 'name check' can take very very long.

name check

I asked many including lawyers about name check and FP. It seems that name check is requested by USCIS to FBI when they receive your 485 application. Once your FP is completed, FBI will send back FP results along with name check results to USCIS. If you name does not match any record in FBI, it just takes very short times, say less than 1 hour to complete your name check. But if you hit some record unfortunately, you have to wait for further screening, which could be manual operation. This strongly depends on your luck although most of chinese applicants are fine with FP and name check.

You check with your Approved 140 paper. They mention PD dated. That date come from when you applied LC.
