Just got my I140 approved. Lawyer sent me following message. I read long time ago on this Priority Date, but like to refresh my calculation on how now Priority Date can mean for my pending I485. If somebody can point me to article or discussion on priority date on this forum, I'd appreciate it. Thanks. Mingjing
"Currently, there is no backlog in visa availability for employment based cases. Visa availability is charted by the Department of State in the form of a quota bulletin. There are a limited number of visas available for each category each year. The number of available visas is further reduced based on country quotas. Your place “in line” is dictated by your priority date and by the date that your I-485 application was filed. Traditionally, most countries do not have visa backlogs because of the relative low usage compared to the number of available visas. "
