Presidential Proclamation on Health Care

Hey people

Did any one notice this announcement at the Travel.State web site related to the new healthcare proclamation of president trump which we already heard about in 4/10/2019

As they say that applicants should be able to demonstrate to the consular officer that they have the financial resources to pay for reasonably foreseeable medical costs or will have approved health insurance within 30 days of entry into the United States.

SO its legally official now or what , i am wondering ???

According to a w\White house Statement:

"The United States has a long history of welcoming immigrants who come lawfully in search of brighter futures. We must continue that tradition while also addressing the challenges facing our healthcare system, including protecting both it and the American taxpayer from the burdens of uncompensated care. Continuing to allow entry into the United States of certain immigrants who lack health insurance or the demonstrated ability to pay for their healthcare would be detrimental to these interests."

How exactly do legal or illegal immigrants get free healthcare anyway? It was always practically impossible, even for citizens, despite the Medicaid schemes. I think most legal immigrants these days either go for Obamacare or remain uninsured. Nobody's getting any freebies, it's simply impossible unless its private charity which is none of government's business. At best, a new immigrant can show his home country insurance, but that will be invalid the moment he "establishes"residency in the US, and most nations consider you emigrated if you stayed in the US place more than 6 months. However, most foreign insurance companies would think twice to cover a US bound traveller anyway, with the infamously over-inflated bills from US healthcare providers (as generally perceived by insurance companies abroad). It is possible though, and will thus set a higher bar for finances and such public-charge issues. When I was a student in the US I was covered by my home country insurance under a special student scheme, but for potential immigrants it'll be some holiday insurance that will only cover you temporarily, after which you'll need Obamacare or some such US based insurance.

They cannot be turned away from the emergency room .
They get emergency Medicaid. Eg something life threatening is found. . Eg. Cancerous cells.

I can go on and on. Hopefully you get the point !!

Do some research , it's not impossible.

I'm going to assume you dont currently live in the US, if not you would have a better grasp of what's happening !!

Allright, I suppose it's not really impossible to get a freebie! Yes, I knew about emergency Medicaid. Never used it myself. I saw with friends they tried to recover the costs after the treatment, even if not always successfully. New immigrants would normally not want to jeopardize their path to citizenship by becoming public charges in their first 5 years anyway. If I were an illegal, I'd rather stay under the radar for fear of deportation.
I guess people will just have to show enough insurance money/papers to the consular officer to prove they won't be a public charge by way of Healthcare, or even in any other way.

You’ll be surprised at the number of new immigrants who apply for food stamps and other public benefits within days of arriving in the US.

It's virtually impossible to get deported for becoming a public charge within the first 5 years under current rules. And public charge is not a factor in naturalization.
