Think, already there was a discussion on this subject. Depending on the economy duration, amount people willing to pay would vary a lot.

NO to premium processing

Introducing a premium processing program would be a mistake. Period. Premium processing is not a panacea; eventually it would lead to further deterioration in the quality of service (just look at the H1-B/I-129 program.. Applicants are told that their cases will be "touched" in 2 weeks.. BTW, "touched" doesn't mean "completed" or "approved").. Each increase in CIS fees has hitherto been justified as "crucial in improving the service mission of the bureau".. Has there been any improvement? even a hint at bettering the service? The answer is evident.

yudhister - if most folks begin to use Premium Processing then the effect would be exactly the same as increasing the fees without reducing the processing times.

Now would anyone like that ?

May not be true.
BCIS can employ more people if they have more money and reduce the backlog.
If there is one, I would have opted for it.

Increased fees doesn't translate to increased USIS funding

USIS funding is separate of the fees, so may not be helpful in that sense.

Support premium processing

I support premium processing for 140 as well as 485.

I know for certain that H1B applications under premium processing are processed (given approval) within a week these days. Last month from my company 4 H1's were processed and all 4 of them were approved within 10 days even after RFE on one of them.

Therefore, premium processing certainly works. Since there are no funds allocated to the CIS for processing and all of the expenses are to be met thru fees, I think it is a good idea that they start premium processing for 140 and 485.

Cheers!
