My US based company might be able to have me work in their canadian office for a couple of years and then have me transfer back. Would this arrnagement get me the 10 points? or does the job have to be permenant?
It should get you the points. I do not think they insist on having a permanent job. If it is for 2 years (for you), it is a fairly long term job contract. It will be better if the letter does not say anything about the duration.

thanks. I believe its taking about 18 months to process the case from buffalo, is that process expedited in anyway if i have pre-arranged job offer?
Like, if my employer in canada wants me to join after 6 months, would immigration authorities process my case in 6 rather than the usual 18 months?

i donot think so. It is just like getting points for any other criteria. If you have family you will get some points, if you have pre-arranged employment you will get some.
Once the points are calculated and you are eligible for PR, I think its the same as anyone else. If ur employer wants you to join in 6 months, they can sponsor you a work visa right? And in a year or two you will get your PR too.
