hello,

we finished our interview from San Antonio DO yesterday. The interview itself went well. we both got form N-652 which said we passed history and english test and also congratulations your application has been recommended for approval. if final approval is granted u will be notified of oath.

Before he gave this form he made us sign a certificate like thing and in our hurry we both did not read what it said (i know so sad). has any one done this and what is that certificate. it has a line where we had to write our full name in free hand (we did not print our name). i asked if the name check is done and he said yes but said the oath will take place in 2-3 months time. San Antonio has oaths every last thursday and also some times before (i guess from previous threads). they also conduct oaths few times a year in austin too.

please comment

thanks

The certificate you signed was confirming that all your details were correct like name and DOB of what will appear on your naturilization certificate. Nothing to worry about unless they misspelled something, then it would show up as incorrect on your naturilization certificate. I know this, because I signed the same thing yesterday.

so buster did they tell u when the oath is going to be. what is ur DO. was the certificate u signed in yellow color.

Thanks

Oath is on 4/22, I went to Dallas DO.

I can't remember what color the certificate was. Hope you get your Oath notice soon.

N-652 after interview

I had an interview on 6/21/05 in the Greer, SC office.

At the end of the interview, the officer gave me N-652 form with only one check stating I've passed the English, U.S. history and government. She added then that I should be expecting the Oath letter, but after she'll complete a security check (FBI name check?). My FP are recent (since Feb. 2005).

I think, it may be because I mentioned to the officer another spelling of my last name from very old passport that she has to run through the name check of that, too?

I wonder whether this is normal, to have one check mark only on the N-652?

did you ask if your name check was pending?

after reading ppl posting about signing docs during the interview... etc, i have to make sure to remember what i sign, and remind myself to ask about the name check during my interview too.

I didn't know to ask about the name check at the time. Should've known better.

i guess they have to re-do your name check per your last name from your very old passport. i hope the name check will be completed soon.
by the way, did you even disclose another spelling of your last name on N400 form? it asked if you have used another kind of name.. etc on the form.

best wishes.

I didn't mention it on the original N-400 since it's not really another name, just slightly different spelling. Since asked directly by the officer, I thought that is worth of mentioning. She didn't confront me, just noted the spelling variance.

Mikola61:

What is your time line. You said you had your FP only in Feb. I thought NC and SC DOs where stuck in 2003 cases. Did you have your FP's redone?

Thanks

My filing date was January 2003, consequently I have been through a second fingerprints since the first one expired.

Received interview letter in April 2005

Actual interview in June 2005

My wife with the same priority date has not heard from them since the filing.

the same situation with the different spelling

Hello, mikola61,

I am in the same situation, had my interview on 06/29/2005 for citizenship. My first name on the passport was spelled with i while the green card, SSN, DL is spelled with y. The interviewer noticed it, did not make a big deal and then told me that I have to wait for name check for my application to be approved. I want to kick myself for showing the passport! I feel that the interviewer decided to send my name for another name check because of one letter. I have not decided if I should wait or hire an attorney. I am just wondering if you can post when you hear anything or get your oath letter. I would like to follow your situation since I am in the same boat.

Actually, if your name is mis-spelled on your passport and G/card,I think it is much better if you could change the name on your passport rather than the green card. That way you can avoid the name check process. There was no way you could have avoided showing the passport b`cos if you have undertaken any trips they will ask for it to confirm the travel dates.I think the ins officer should have overlooked such a small mistake.Good luck to you.Hope your name check is over fast.

i wonder.. how would the person even let the passport contain a mis-spelled name of him/her in the first place?

My first name is printed wrong in the N-400 receipt notice. I faxed VSC the correct spelling already but not sure if they corrected it. I will inform during interview if the name is still wrong. But wondering if there is any way to ensure that my name check does not need to be repeated after interview.
