PP Stamping question

Hi gurus,

My case was approved 4 days after the interview at San Jose office. However, the approval letters said that the plastic card will arrive within "several months", and I don't need to go for stamping, unless I can prove that I need to travel or employment eligibility will expire within 90 days.

My question is can i still go for stamping even though I don't need immediate travel nor employment eligibility will expire? Also, my online status change from "Transfer" to "Application received and need 660 days to process ..." as of today, do I need to worry this?

All EAD and AP were collected by officer during the interview.

Thanks

Reason for transfer: 2nd FP rejected twice
WAC-02-266-XXXXX approved on 09/06

You should be fine without stamping. However, it's good idea to keep a photocopy of your I-485 approval notice as a proof of your perm resident status. SJ office normally takes 3-6 weeks to process plastic cards. You should get our card within that timeframe.

Question .... since your EAD and H/L is invalid after 485 approval, what do you have now as "Employment Eligibility" ??

Would the 485 approval notice server that purpose ?
I've always thought folks fill a new I-9 after getting the I-551 stamping ... I've never seen anyone fill a I-9 based on the 485 approval notice !!

So, what does USCIS mean when they say "employment eligibility" after 485 is approved ??

My approval letter said something like this,

"This letter is to inform you that you have been granted the permanent residency status, but this letter doesn't serves as a proof of the status .... "

So without PP stamping, how can I prove that I am PR now? If my EAD become invalid like max2k1 said, I can not work until I get my PP stamped?

Approval notice cannot be a document for employment eligibility. But the I-551 can be used as the document for same purpose. If you don't have stamping, you need to wait for your plastic card, then fill-up I-9 form. Nowdays people are getting plastic card pretty fast. However, if situation arrives and you cannot wait for plastic card, you should go to USCIS office and get passport stamped.

You can work without passport stamping because are a perm resident from the day of approval. Normally it's OK to wait for passport stamping or even plastic card and then fill up I-9 form.
