Postponing FP does any good??

Ciba and other gurus, need advise...

I heard from someone that we can keep postponing the FL date beyond the scheduled date until we cross the 180 day window. The reason being if we get laid off from the current employer before 180 days and if we had not given the FL, we can carry on the 485 process with another employer. Is this true? After we receive the FL notice if we keep postponing it, will it not cause any problem? My 485 ND is 04/25/01.

did u receive FP already?

Folks who received FP, can you tell us, what the notice actually
says verbatim. I am planning a vacation and wondering what happens
if I miss my finger print appt..
Does the notice say anything like
"If you miss this appt, .........".

I know vermont service center, clearly mentions what to do
incase you cannot make your finger print appointment date.
Does CSC have the same? if so what do they have?

thank you
regards

After replying you "NO" for the FP receipt, I just came back home and see my FP notice by mail - for 08/07/2001.

It says - \'rescheduling your appointment will delay your application\'. However there is an option to request for rescheduling to the next available "wednesday" or "saturday" and INS do not guarantee the availability of appointment on the scheduled date.

Hope this helps.

vby,

I don\'t quite understand the relationship between FP date
and 180 days stated in your message. I would think even
if you do your FP before crossing 180 days, you can still
(and most definitely) carry on your I-485.

No matter who processes your GC and where u work (whether with the company doing your GC or somebody else), as long as you can show the intention to join the employer who processed your GC after the GC is approved (read this carefully, not before), your GC application is fine. Now with the 180 days rule, you are fine after 180 days of 485 pending. There is no correlation between EAP/AP/FP and the layoffs, its only the 180 days that matter even if you have not received the above EAD etc approvals.

Hope this helps, Ciba please correct me if I am wrong.

Thanks Ciba, so if we give the FP before 180 days also can we still continue the GC process even if we get laid off before the 180 days?
