I had my Citizenship interview yesterday. I could not attend the interview as I totally forgot about it and just realized in the evening when it was too late.
How can I re-schedule the interview. What reason can I give for not attending.

I am in VSC jurisdiction in Boston area.

Please guide me as I have created a problem for myself.

Thanks for your help.

wow, citizenship interview was so important to me and I had mark it on the calendar, outlook, even my cell phone.

I hope you would remember to go to the citizenship interivew in the future.

Wow, I still can't believe you missed it because you forgot.

missed date

I have heard that Boston DO is pretty efficient in rescheduling interviews. Just send a certified mail to the local DO and VSC with any reason ( no body reads the reason for reschedule). Probably you could also schedule and Infopass apptt and talk with the concerned officer. maybe it may work out. All the best & good luck!!

I blew it ...

I still cant believe that I blew it. I will be kicking myself for this.

But hey "Dont sweat the small stuff" right ?

Now seriously, Does anyone have a standard format for requesting a reschedule of the interview date.

What could be reasonably valid reasons for not being able to keep the interview appointment.

Thanks for your help with this.

did you really?

did you really forgot to attend your interview or is it your "real" intention not to go.

Just incase you forgot that you started a thread how to postpone an interview, see the thread below...

A good reason to write in your letter is Tell them that you are not sure if you wanted to be a US citizen and asking them to give you some time to think and make a decision... , until then put your application on hold.

By the way in your previous thread that you started , somehow you already claim to be a US Citizen. Whats up with that?
dont fool people here....and keep your story straight!

I did really forget to attend the interview. There is question about that.

In my previous emails, I was planning to apply for my parents assuming i will get citizenship pretty soon. May by my postings were not very clear.

So I am looking forward to the responses on this new thread postponing the interview.

Missed the Interview!

Today I did miss my Citizenship interview! Showed up at the INS office in Garden City, NY, went thru' security check, got stamped and submitted the appointment letter. The interviewing officer called me and said that he was scheduled to interview my yesterday! only then I realized that I showed up a day late!

Well then, as per the officers advice, I did go to the counter and filled in a form requesting to reschedule my interview. They mention that it will take atleast two weeks to hear from them!

I feel Stupid! what do I do?

Well, it doesn't seem to be a very serious problem, in that they won't deny your application if your interview is rescheduled. You just have to get them to do it. I set multiple reminders and then the night before, at least two alarms to wake me up. I guess anyone can forget though...
