Portland N-400 queue is moving now....

Hello All,

It looks like N-400 cases in Portland, OR are moving ahead for interviews. Besides Walterperu, kcchiefs8888 also has recevied interview letter stating his interview is scheduled on 10/23.

Here is the link to his post.

It looks like they are processing April priority dates right now for N-400 applications. I would guess that folks having May priority dates should receive interview letters during next 3-4 weeks. Desibha1, Sapro, if you guys get interview letter then please post.

Seriousachiever,
Thanks for the information. Good to hear that Portland, OR N-400 queue is moving. I will keep you and all the folks here updated as soon as I get the Interview letter in mail.

Hello,
Any updates from anybody? seriousachiever, desibha1? Did anybody recently went for an Infopass and got some latest news in Portland USCIS office? I have not received my IL yet.

I am waiting too

Hi Sapro,

No. No information about Portland, OR cases in last one month. In fact I was hoping that guys with late April or early May priority dates would be getting their interview notices by now.

Also USCIS status says for N-400 processing at Portland OR would take 7 months. There is no date. So in that case May cases would be processed in Late November to December time frame.

Also at USCIS status for my case says that my case is still at Nebraska Service center. I am not sure if it really means anything.

If you check tracker at immihelp.com, some cases belong to other states under Nebraska service center are processing May cases now.....Extremely frustrating...

IL received

I recieved the interview letter in the mail today. Notice date on the IL is 10/5 and interview is on 11/29.
No change in the online status on the USCIS website

Had my interview today!

The interview went very smooth and it took about 1/2 hour. The officers in Portland are very professional and friendly. My interview was at 10:30am and the ceremony at 2pm. If your interview is coming up, remember to smile and just be yourself:).

Take care!

Congratulations !!!. Can you please post your experience of the interview? Like what sort of questions they asked you? What documents they saw? Did they ask you any specific questions etc? how was your experience with oath ceremony?

Interview details

Right at 10:30am I was called in for my interview. I was taking into an office where someone else was being interviewed. I was asked by the IO to lay my passport and resident card on the desk. Then the IO started going through my application and I believe being asked about 99 % of the content in the application. I had a DWI back 6 years ago and she asked for documents proving that I completed all court orders like probation, court fines and rehabilitation classes. I got divorced and remarried during my application in process so I brought in a separately piece of paper with changes that had occurred since I filed my application, she thanked me that I did that. I got the first 6 history questions right so she didn't ask me anymore questions. I also write a short sentence like " I live with my wife and children". Then she asked me to read a very easy sentence.
After that she told that I was approved and if wanted to attend the ceremony that afternoon.

It was a good day!

Remember to study your US history and make sure that you are aware of all the content in your application.

Good luck!

Received Interview Notice

I have received my interview notice this week. My interview date is Dec 7th at Portland office.

Hi Everyone,
Unfortunately, I lost my Green Card (the physical card) and I am currently stuck outside the US. Is there any way I can attend my Interview without the physical Green Card? My wallet was stolen in a shopping centre along with my Green Card in it. I have the photocopy of it.

Any inputs please? I might have received the Interview letter by now since I pretty much have the same dates as seriousachiever.

Hi Sapro,
Sorry to hear this. I am no expert in this matter. I think you have following options

1. Contact nearest US embassy and ask them if they can give you another GC. This wouild be your best option as you may need some documentation from them for re-entry. If you are in Canada or Mexico then I think you can talk to border office.

But Please make sure that you file police report of the theft and keep all original copies of police report. I am sure that will be needed some where.

2. If you have any relatives/spouse/immigration attorney/manager/coworkers, then ask them to contact USCIS and find out what can be done. If someone is watching your mails then see if you have received the interview notice. If so then I am sure you have at least 1 month before your interview date. In case you are stuck outside for more than a month then you can ask to postpone your interview to next date.

3. You can call nebrasa call center from outside and ask them what you should do.

4. Contact your HR/legal department where you work and ask them if they can help you any way.

Again best thing may be to talk to people in nearest consulate & take their advice.

All the best and I am sure things would work out for you.

seriousachiever,
I am doing # 1 what you have mentioned and do not have the GC photocopy with me to show the officer here. I am working on it through my HR and other friends.

Assuming I come to US after this, can I attend the Citizenship interview without Greencard and tell the Interviewing Officer (IO) that my GC card is lost? Or, do I have to wait for my Citizenship Interview till I get the replacement Green Card?

Any inputs please.........

Sapro, I think proof of GC and application for replacement card should be enough. I don't think you should postpone your interview. First just gather the paperwork required to re-enter the country. There are several cases in this forum about applying or interviewing without GC. Here is one quite similar to yours: http://www.immigrationportal.com/showthread.php?t=216183

Good luck!

I agree with desibha1 for the following reasons:
1/ the Interview Latter (at least mine) reads that you strive to gather a maximum of the documents listed

2/ if and when you come to the interview with the maximum of documents (including GC Photocopy there are two possible outcomes (provided your case does not have "red flags"):
- either your case is approved (and it was worth coming to the Interview)
- or your case if continued (for example until you provide additional documentation)
Both seem to me preferable to an interview postponement.

3/ The GC is used as evidence of your lawful admission to Legal Permanent Resident. From this point of view, the plastic GC as well as a photocopy contain the same information such as LPR date, your A#, your name etc. (The IO has access to databases containing more infirmation about yourself than the GC does).

HI Sapro, As mentioned in above posts, proof of GC and application of replacement should allow you to appear for interview.

Meanwhile my interview date is Dec 17th and not Dec 7th. So assuming that yours is same too, you have 1 1/2 months for interview.
