Today I went for an 'Infopass' appointment in Portland, Oregon. The IO was friendly and asked for my 'A' Number and typed in her computer. She told me that my Name check & FP check is processed & looks good. Currently, the District Office is waiting for receiving the next batch of files for which all the checks are completed.

IO told me to wait for 4 more weeks to get the Interview letter and that my file is still at Nebraska Service center (NSC) as on 7/24/2007 (Tuesday). Please see the dates given below.

Any updates from anybody else in Portland, Oregon?

Hi,
It looks like your & mine priority dates are same at 05/23/2007. I waited till the exact date for my FP. I probably should have done the FP by walk-in as soon as I received the notice.

Looking at the dates in the above links for old appovals, it seems that they got approval in average 3 months from FP date. If this is average trend at Portland, OR then it makes sense what IO said to you of getting interview letters in 4 weeks from now.

Wait!

I would like to add myself too... we filed in Portland, OR as well...
See timeline below. Our case hasn't been touched since July 2nd. We are getting impatient and are about to make an Infopass.

See timeline below.

Updates:
I called the 800# and the customer service rep was very polite but did not give me any more info than was on the website. I told her I need to find my name check status and was able to get her to transfer me to an IO. The IO was quite terse but took down my A#, receipt #, service center and parents names etc. and then stonewalled saying my case was within the published processing times. However before brushing me off she said she could not find my case and later quoted the Portland DO processing times. So perhaps my case had moved to the Portland office ???
I got an infopass appointment for the next day. (Note: Based on my observations, it might be easy to get an infopass appointment for the next day instead of 2 weeks out if you try around 4:30pm. That is when I think the next days cancellations or unfilled appointments get posted.)
Unfortunately, that day only one IO was (wo)manning all the customer counters and was visibly agitated about it and kept making announcements to everybody to be patient. When I got my turn about an hour and half late I asked about my status and she took the receipt notice and returned saying that all my checks including fingerprint, name, background etc. were clear but there were more than 6400 applicants in the queue and she had no idea when I would get an interview notice.
I didn't push her any further and I am guessing my application is in the Portland DO and it seems like this years filing->oath timeline without hold ups is trending much longer than the last year cases mentioned above.

Hi desibha1,
Thanks for your update. I am guessing that 6400 applicants may not all be citizenship applicants or probably this is obvious to understand. When I went for an Infopass on 07/24/2007, the IO told me to wait for 4 more weeks to get the Interview letter.
At what time was your Infopass appointment on 8/10/2007?
It seems like the District Office gets the Interview letter in batches and the next batch is probably going to come soon. The delay could also be because of the more number of applications filed recently for green card and other benefits since the dates became current. But is it not a first come first served basis and based on priority date for the applicants?

I don't know what to read into for that more-than-6400-in-queue remark. I am sure there are plenty of applicants. During my fingerprinting there were about 5-10 fingerprinting appointments for that time slot and most if not all got the civics lessons booklet while being checked in.
I think it is very reasonable to expect a largely first come first served process but there must be a wave of pre-fee-hike applicants somewhere near our timeframe. Wish some more add on their status in this forum to give us a better idea of how things are moving...

Hi Desibhai

I have not seen any interview files being sent for May NSC (except one from MI on the immihelp tracker). It is great that you know that you have cleared the only unknown hurdle of name check. Please enter your information on the below tracker so we can have more information for NSC interview dates.

from Portland applying thru NSC

not to discourage anyone but my wife and I both have early April priority dates, and our finger prints were done in mid May, and so far nothing from INS yet.

Not to encourage anyone but my Priority Date at the NSC is March 20th and I received the IL around one month ago. My DO is not Portland but since the security checks (fingerprints, name check) are initiated at the NSC and not the DO, there is a good chance that Interview Letters for April Priority Dates could be sent out any time.

Walk-in for Portland ASC/FP

Sapro,

In your sig you say that you did a walk-in for FP.

How did you so this? I tried this morning and was was told I could only schedule a later appointment, not an earlier one.

Hi needtowork,
I did a walk-in for my FP on 6/9/2007 (19 days before my actual FP appointment day) which was a Saturday. When I reached there it was almost 3:00 pm. The security guard looked at my letter and said that this is not your appointment date. Then I requested him and he went into another room (the room immediately on the right side of the entrance) where he gave my letter to a lady. The lady said that she cannot guarantee that FP can be done that day but needs to enquire and went to talk to the people who actually do the FP. Then she came back smiling and told me to fill the form and go for FP.

To make the long story short, I did FP that day. It was a rainy day and there was not even 1 person to do the FP except me.

btw: An update for all -- I went for another Infopass on 8/21/2007 (Tuesday) and found that I am in Interview queue now. The IO also said that she doesn't have an answer as to when will I get the Interview Letter in mail.

So desibha1 -- I pretty much got the same answer as you got when you went to Infopass on 8/10/2007. It seems that eventhough all checks are cleared, it will take a little more time to get the Interview letter. On 8/21/2007, I also met some people and talked to them. There were lot of people who took the Oath on that day (may be about 50).

seriousachiever,
No, she could not answer that question. Initially, she took my receipt notice and then went to a room for couple of minutes. Then she came back and said to me that my file is not here (in portland, DO).

Another Portlander

Hello, I am so glad to see other people from Portland on here. I will post my timelines later today - dont know them off the top of my head. For me the most important thing is my EAD - I have my FP on 9/6 and need to start work by Oct 1st or I wont have a job.

Is this too ambitious? I am really worried and would appreciate any input/ experience that other people in Portland have had with this.

Me - Indian citizen
Husband - USC
Previously on J1 for clinical medical training.
