Police records for Canada

Hi,

I've been reading the forums and doing some research about police records for CP but I am still confused. Do I need a fingerprint police record or will a name based police record check be OK? I am Canadian and will be doing CP in Montreal. I heard the fingerprint version takes forever to get.

Name based record check will suffice. That is what I had at my K-1 interview in Montreal.

name based police clearance is good enough from Canada. That takes around 2 weeks.

A name & birthdate based police record check will be OK for the Montreal consulate. You can get it at some police facilities (like Peel in Mississauga) in about 1/2 hr.
