I have stayed for :

- 9 months as tourist visa in UAE from 06/2009 until 03/2010

- 2 month as legal residents in UAE from 04/2010 until 06/2010

DO I need Police record from UAE in order to present it to the consulate for my day of interview, even that i passed 2 month as legal resident in UAE ?

There will be answers to this thread for sure and maybe lots of the are more reliable.
From what I've read about, I think you will have to provide police records from UAE too ( you've stayed there half of an year and further more , you stayed there as a resident too)

ok but i just stayed less than 3 months as resident in UAE in 2010, so that means i will need police records for that ?

i believe also if u stayed in a country with touriste visa , u dont need police record for that ?

Hey there

Hi!

From the official website for obtaining civil documents:

IF the applicant lived in a different country for more than 12 months AND was 16 years or older at that time THEN the applicant needs a police certificate from the police authorities of that locality.

If you have lived in your country of nationality at the current residence for more than 6 months, you need the certificate from your country, and if you lived at another part of your country of nationality for more than 6 months you will need the certificate.

8+3 = 11 months and not 12... therefore you do not need a police certificate.

Dear Sharm,

Thank you for the time that u give to answer,

as i told u i have been legal resident in UAE for only less than 3 months before i quite the country forever, how ever , i have been in UAE several times as tourist before being legal resident, and the sum of the time i have been tourist in UAE is 8 months.

I dont want to do the police record in the UAE embassy in my country, simply because it requires so much papers and go and back, and a lot of effort and time to get it, that is why i am asking if staying in country as tourist is counted in the 12 months required by the US consulate.

I just called the consulate , they said : they only count the months where i stayed as legal resident not tourist

yay less paper to prepare :D
