Police Clearance & Proof of funds - Need information from Gurus

Hi,

i have just recd the interview waiver. Would appreciate help on the following questions i have. I am currently in USA for the last 3 years, citizen of India where i have stayed the rest of my life.

1) Do I need to submit only the USA FBI clearance or police clearance even from India? Some say it is not required, is that true?
If from India too, how to get it while staying in the USA?
how much time does that take?

2) Is there any format of the Bank letter to establish the proof of funds? Are bank statements also required - how many months?

As far as I know, you will need police clearances from all countries where you have resided for 6 months or more past your 18th (or is is 16th?) birthday.

--- Need clearance from FBI and from India. FBI clearance probably 4 to 5 weeks, Police clearance get it done from Indian Embassy, probably 2 weeks-not sure.

2) Is there any format of the Bank letter to establish the proof of funds? Are bank statements also required - how many months?

--- No such format, ask your bank for Immigration purpose. Just keep the bank statements. No harm.

both are required

Take a look at website of Indian consulate which deals affairs for your state
There is clearcut procedure mentioned on how to get police certificate from them

If passport is from indian consulate in US : Immediate
If passport from india : 30 days or so


US FBI - Go to any fingerprinter ( serach for any private fingerprinter who carry FBI fingerprint cards - or go to local police station ) - pay about $6.00 ea and send the cards along with required fee to fbi - takes 3 months or so.

Banks have their own format - any format is ok -just go to your bank and ask for letter - they 'll give you
