Police Clearance from India required for I-485?

I read (http://www.immigration-law.com/ , "Breaking News" section, news dated 01/09/2002) that now immigration visa applicants above 16 years of age need police clearances from India (or Indian embassy abroad). Has any of you done this? Is it required for I-485 (EB-2 Based) or is just for CP?

That is for CP application

Best I understand it is for CP application.
