police clearance for consular processing

Looks like we need a police clearance certificate from both
the local Indian consulate as well as from the last place of
stay in India.

Anybody's got any ideas about how the police clearance
from India could got in a speedy manner.

Also looks like the Indian consulate in San Francisco
takes atleast 30 days to issue the PCC (would have
to go all the way to the issuing passport office in India).
Can we speed this up in any way?

Thanks,
Anand

If you are presently residing in US, a Police Clearance Certificate from the Indian Consulate having jurisdiction over your place of residence ( US ) is sufficient. It is true that they would refer back to your place of residence in India ( as indicated by you in the Miscellaneous services form ) and give the clearance once they get back the reply. ( I believe they have made this process also time bound , by saying that ' when a clearance is received from India or 35 days whichever is earlier ).

Not a leagal advise and based on information relating to Chennai
Consulate.

Thanks so much for your response.

Yes I currently reside in the US. So from what you are saying,
PCC from the Indian Consulate in US would be sufficient.
I don't need to apply for one from any district police
station in India, if I am planning to appear at the
Chennai consulate?

Anand,
Can you please tell me when did you apply for PCC at the SFO consulate?.

Did they tell you to wait for 30 days too?.

Please keep me updated as i have also applied too and awaiting a reply from them.

Thanks.
