Police checks - does it have to be so complicated??

Hi,

So, when applying for a fiance visa you have to get police background checks for any country you lived in for more than 6 months. For me that's Canada and Dubai in the UAE.

I've seen that for Canada you need to send of finger prints. In general the whole process seems almost as complicated as the visa itself. Are there any services that make this process easier?

Anyone have any info or experience in this area?

It was much easier in 2002 when I needed one. At that time, finger prints were not needed.
